ACSI2STM Nano (very compact version)

This document explains how to use the ACSI2STM NANO version

This layout of the ACSI2STM is specially designed to take as little space as possible.

This version is much smaller than the original ACSI2STM card.

Difference with the original card are:
- One microSD card ready. You can have GemDrive mode or ACSI mode. But not both at the same time.
- Proper DB19 plug
- No RTC (Real Time Clock)
- Default address is 0, can be changed to 1

You can buy it here:

Safety warning first:
It is your responsibility to make sure you stay safe while working on your Atari
Disconnect the power before working on your Atari.
Never manipulate any cable or anything else while the power is on.
Any modification on the motherboard is your sole responsibility. This solution should not involve any modification to your motherboard anyway.
In case of problem, I decline all responsibility if you make an assembly error, or poorly done soldering.

1 - Installation
A - Connect your card into the ACSI port of your Atari. You cannot go wrong. There is only one 19 pins socket.

B - Connect a 5V power source using a USB-C cable to the ACSI2STM card.

C - Insert a microSD card formatted FAT32 or with a ACSI disk image of your choice.

2 - Changing the ID

The ACSI2STM Nano is using ID 0 by default. It is possible to set the ID to 1 if you wish to use it with another ACSI drive.

To do this, you need a soldering iron and basic soldering skills.

At the back of the PCB, there is a small soldering pad called ID_SHIFT.
Solder this pad in order to make contact betwen the 2 sides.
Once it is done, your ACSI2STM card will respond to ID 1

If you need more flexibility with IDs,
you may want to consider the classic ACSI2STM card.

3 - Setup
This version of the ACSI2STM card works exactly the same way than the external ACSI2STM.
Please refer to the main ACSI2STM card to learn how to use it.

4 - Why using this version rather than the original ACSI2STM?

As mentioned above, this Nano version does not have the real time clock and only have one microSD card ready.

-
But it is one of the smallest hard drive solution for Atari computer.
-
Its form allows you to plug it directly at the back of a Mega STE without blocking the VME port
-
You can also directly plug it at the back of a MegaFile disk without interfering with the main power cable.
-
The card can fit in your pocket
-
With a Cartridge power adaptor, you get a compact and clever hard drive solution.
