Mounting the ACSI2STM inside a Mega STE

This document explains how you can to mount a internal version ACSI2STM card for Atari Mega STE.

This layout of the ACSI2STM is specially designed for the Mega STE. It cannot be fitted in any other computer.

This solution is plug and play. You just need a screw driver to open the hard drive cover and fit the card.

There is no need to modify the case, the operation can be reversed without leaving any traces.

You can buy it here:

Safety warning first:

It is your responsibility to make sure you stay safe while working on your Atari
Disconnect the power before working on your Atari.
Never manipulate any cable or anything else while the power is on.

Any modification on the motherboard is your sole responsibility. This solution should not involve any modification to your motherboard anyway.

In case of problem, I decline all responsibility if you make an assembly error, or poorly done soldering.

1 - Installation

A - Under your Atari, there is one screw to unlock the hard drive cover. It is the only screw with a flat head. With a flat head screw driver, unscrew it.

B - Back on the top, remove the hard disk cover.

C - You should now see this part of the motherboard.

If you already have a disk controller there. Remove it

If you have the 8 jumpers on the J402 port, remove them.

Remove the screw from the golden support on the left.

D - Now carefully insert the ACSI2STM card on the J402 connector. Make sure it is inserted correctly and not shifted up/down or left/right

E - Fit the screw on the golden support on the left. This will secure the card.

F - â€‹Finally, place a CR2032 battery for the RTC (real time clock) and you are good to go.
These is nothing else to do. you can put back the disk cover later once you are happy with the setup.

2 - Setup

This version of the ACSI2STM card works exactly the same way than the external ACSI2STM.
Please refer to the main ACSI2STM card to learn how to use it.
